The Big .25 Caliber
Up until around the 1980s, all .25 caliber air rifles were low-powered and slow. Velocities were in the 300 to 400 f.p.s. range. It wasn't until the 1990s that the emergence of powerful rifles made this caliber truly viable and brought it fully back to life. The RWS 48/52 is one of the most popular spring guns ever made. Perhaps the most popular .25-caliber rifles are the Beeman Kodiak and the Beeman Crow Magnum . Both rifles produce roughly 30 foot-pounds at the muzzle and both have a deserved reputation of being great in .25. Factory rated at 750 + f.p.s., these "Big 25's" are truly serious airguns. I
n the precharged rifles, .25 caliber doesn't deliver much of an advantage.
